Student's Feedback
Report for Dr Roslinawati Mohd Roslan
Dr Roslinawati in short, Dr Roslin was my research exercise’s supervisor during my Master of Teaching program. She also taught a few modules’ topics throughout my 18 months under the program. She has been such an approachable lecturer and supervisor. She gave constant guidance to different students without prejudice or bias. Dr Roslin is also the kind of lecturer that give a clear expectation that is expected by her or the module for the whole semester and students were always aware of the standard that should be reached. She always provides students with rubrics for all of her assignments. In a way, that guides the students to reach a proper standard that is expected from a master student. She is always prepared before her lectures and that she always provides an intensive amount of knowledge that is extracted from different literature. It could be seen that she always does constant research all the time. The information she was giving was always fresh and recent. In the end, in the middle or before her lectures, she always provides articles for students to read. She always equipped her students with materials that are significant for the lecture.
Throughout my research exercise, she really stood up to her role. I still am grateful up until today that I had her be my supervisor at that time. I was the one who should keep on barking at her door for updating her with my progress on the research and seeking guidance. Instead, she was the one who constantly checking up on me and keeping me on track. At the same time, she had my colleagues under her too. That did not stop her from giving us equal attention and guidance at all times. She made sure she made time for us despite her busy schedule with meetings and she always uses technology at its best. She always opts for zoom meetings if face-to-face meet up was impossible. She made sure she gave 110% for all the commitments that she has and not letting any of them be left unattended. She was able to do this because she gets them done base on priority. She arranged them in an organized manner and put them based on her order of priority. That way too, in my point of view, not just she is being organized but also, she made everything her top priority as she made sure that she gets everything done in time.
All in all, Dr Roslin is a super committed individual despite being the deputy dean, a lecturer, a supervisor, a mother of her children and a wife, she juggles everything with constant effort and puts her best on all of them at all times. I salute her and am thankful for her presence through my Master's degree.

STUDENT’S LEARNING EXPERIENCE
(DR ROSLINAWATI ROSLAN – SHBIE)
As a new student of Master in Teaching, I was quite overwhelmed with the intense nature of the course. Fortunately, SHBIE lecturers are very supportive and very helpful. One outstanding lecturer is Dr Roslinawati. Despite her position as the Deputy Dean of Academic, she welcomes students to contact her if there are any enquiries on anything at all. As a result, students feel comfortable and very much supported.
We were fortunate to be taught by Dr Roslinawati in ET-5303, Language and Teaching. She specializes in Dialogic Teaching, a popular term but perhaps daunting for most teachers in the Ministry of Education. I came to her lectures with a very shallow knowledge of Dialogic Teaching. Due to her passion and her broad knowledge on the topic, I was able to delve more and was able to apply Dialogic Teaching in my own teaching during my Professional Practice. For me, her teaching was so impactful that it was manifested in my own classrooms where my students were able to achieve a dialogic platform.
I think what is unique about Dr Roslinawati is her way of teaching. Instead of treating the lecture room as a mere space, she utilizes it by recognizing that students as unique individuals who have potentials as co-creators of knowledge. She constantly opens the floor for students to voice out their ideas, suggestions and to ask questions. Another factor that contributes to her teaching success is the fact that she conveys her knowledge in a conversational way. Students understand that the knowledge being conveyed is of the utmost importance however at the same time there are elements of familiarity that Dr Roslinawati consistently draws upon. She does this by drawing examples or instances from everyday lives. I think this is an intelligent way to capture students’ attention and stimulate students’ thinking.
Also, a worthy note to mention is Dr Roslinawati’s endless attempts in memorizing everyone’s name. I think making efforts in getting to know students is a great way to let them know that they matter. In extension to this is Dr Roslinawati’s respectful consideration towards students’ preferences, thus, she often asks students to perform group discussions. In this way, students feel safe to voice out opinions and ideas within their own smaller groups. When the discussion is underway, Dr Roslinawati can be seen visiting each group and expound on the topic discussed even further, not by simply spoon-feeding students but by posing extending questions which in turn lead to deeper and richer discussion.
I would also like to mention that Dr Roslinawati is a very reflective lecturer who uses high technology such as Padlet for students to write down comments or suggestions. She always updates students using Canvas and takes care of students’ well-being by choosing comfortable and convenient spaces for her lectures. I think Dr Roslinawati deserves to be acknowledged not just for her passion in her field but for her overall excellence in teaching. It is indeed a pleasure to be one of her students.
